As many of you know leominster, massachusetts is home to hundreds of alvito people..my grandfather was Guiseppe lanza and my grandmother was Concetta (Tata) Tata and many of the names i see are names of my neighbors...my brother Dean has been the mayor of Leominster for the past 15 years and its been a long way from the days when Alvito-ites immigrated to leominster and dug ditches and molded plastics to a day when the mayor is a proud descendant of Alvito..this summer we are having a Lanza reunion and it should number at least one hundred if all the clan shows up..
it always amazes me how so many came 3000 miles to settle here in leominster and they lived in the same neighborhood and raised their children together and if you go to the Catholic cemetary you notice that those from Alvito are even buried near one another...what an amazing trip from there to here..our grandparents were truly great people who overcame obstacles unimaginable to us and planted their essence firmly in Leominster soil
